Jimmy’s Night Shelter is one of the charities we support. Here’s why:
Jimmy’s has been providing shelter, food and clothing for the homeless people of Cambridge since 1995. Over 300 people benefit from the services at Jimmy’s every year, getting help and temporary accommodation while they arrange a permanent living solutions.
It costs £47.60 to provide an evening meal, a bed and breakfast for one person. The food bill at Jimmy’s is over £800 each month so every grocery donation they receive helps to stretch their budget.
On December 24th, thanks to the generosity of our customers, we were able to deliver to Jimmy’s:
- 25kg potatoes
- 7.5kg parsnips
- 7.5kg carrots
- 4kg broccoli
- 3.5kg satsumas
- 10kg onions
- 7.5kg brussel sprouts
- 5kg cox apples
- 12 cans soup
- 13 cans of food (spaghetti, tomatoes etc.)
- 6 packets dried foods (pasta, sugar)
- 6 packets of biscuits
We’ve decided to continue the Jimmy’s initiative through 2010, making a delivery of fresh fruit and veg as often as we can. If you’d like to help, please make a donation here.
